For those of you who are reading this and are looking for entertainment Tuesday night (the 27th), come to the church building and have a good time working on some projects with friends. You can demo some flooring, lay linoleum, put up Christmas decorations, and more! We'll be there by 5:30 but you can join us whenever you'd like!

Christmas Party!
Save the date...
Saturday, December 15th
Christmas Party at the church...more details to come!
December Girls Night Out
To the ladies...on Saturday, December 8th, we'll be having another Girls Night Out. We plan to have this event monthly (at least until summer hits). Like last time, feel free to bring any projects you'd like to work on -- and 'tis the season for Christmas cards and gift-wrapping, so this might be a good opportunity for that! For anyone who enjoys decorating, we'll also be decorating the church for the Christmas season. This will be a very informal event...feel free to bring a snack to share, we can order in food if we choose, and just have a good time being with the girls! We'll start at 4:00 pm, so come and join us!
Friday Night Live
Just a reminder...there will be no Friday Night Live this week (November 23rd)...enjoy celebrating the holiday weekend!

AWC kids need YOU!
We are setting up The Mountaintop schedule for the next three months (Dec-Feb) and wanted to let you all know that if you're interested in helping out with our kids on Sunday mornings, we have several options for you!
- Base Camp (Infant - 15 months) - these volunteers serve once a month and have the blessing of caring for the precious little babies!
- Hikers (16 months - 3 years) - these volunteers serve for one month segments and watch over the toddlers. Coloring, puzzles, reading stories, and singing are all part of the fun! Come with energy or caffeine!
- Climbers (3 years - Kindergarten) - these volunteers serve for one month segments teaching the preschoolers/Kindergartners. Teaching Bible stories with activity sheets, coloring sheets, or crafts, along with singing time, fill up the Sunday morning.
- Mountaineers (1st - 6th grade) - these volunteers also serve for one month segments and teach the elementary age children, as well as participate in the children's worship in singing time.
If you have any questions or are interested in helping out, please contact Patsy (907-357-2811) or Heidi (248-9878). Thank you for your willingness to help out with these little ones. You are a blessing to us and to the kids!

Sunday, November 11, 2007
This Sunday was a little out of the ordinary. Hopefully, we were all challenged by the video footage of the Vietnamese underground church service. I saw true joy on their faces as they had passed over that threshold of being fearful of men. I am sure that they prefer not being caught and beat for singing praise songs, but I am sure that they are ready and willing to sacrifice their own lives if necessary.
One of the reasons that I struggle in my search for Jesus in my own life is that I have so much. Jesus' words about the difficulty for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven reverberate within my spirit. Not that I am wealthy by the standards of Anchorage or the United States, but I have enough that the fear of losing what I have can overrule God's leading in my life if I do not conquer that fear. Another option is to simplify my life, which I challenge you to do also.
It seems that as soon as I attain one possession, I immediately begin to think of the next one that I will attempt to purloin. What if we reversed this trend and started looking around our own personal sphere for things we could live without?
May this Sunday form the way that you live until we are perfected by the King!
The Pastor who is no faster than his Master.
